Strieber and Communion.

Strieber and Communion.
I haven’t read his book, but I’ve heard it’s quite intriguing, albeit reminiscent of science fiction. After watching a few interviews with him, I’m not really convinced that what he experienced was anything beyond a lucid dream.

His fixation on UFOs may have fueled his narrative, but to me, Strieber seems like the quintessential subject for the cash-grab mentality we’ve seen so often in recent years.

I did, however, catch the 1989 film adaptation recently, and it was a wild experience! Christopher Walken really shines, embodying his signature style.

Interestingly, it seems Walken approached the material as fiction, and it does unfold like a surreal dream.

That anal probe scene in particular…

I can’t believe I hadn’t seen this until now.

What do you think about Strieber’s claims? Do you believe there’s any truth to his story?

  1. Strieber’s “Communion” certainly straddles the line between personal experience and science fiction. His claims about being abducted by aliens do raise skepticism, especially given the way they echo common themes in the UFO narrative. The fact that many people report similar experiences could suggest a psychological or cultural phenomenon rather than an objective reality.

As for the movie, it’s definitely an experience! Walken’s performance adds a layer of surrealism that enhances the dream-like quality of the story. That infamous anal probe scene has become a cultural reference, encapsulating both the absurdity and the fear often associated with abduction narratives.

In terms of Strieber’s claims, I think it’s essential to approach them with an open mind, while also considering psychological explanations. Whether or not there’s veracity to his experiences, his work has certainly provoked thought and conversation about the nature of reality and perception. Ultimately, it’s a mix of fascination and skepticism that keeps such discussions alive. What do you find most intriguing about his claims?
