Weird lights over central Kansas

Unusual Lights Observed in Central Kansas

A few nights ago, my friend and I were hanging out by the interstate, having some fun with truckers on a CB/ham radio. While he went to adjust the antenna on his truck, I decided to step out and admire the stars. As I was doing so, I tried to locate a castle on a nearby hill when I noticed what I initially thought was a star suddenly disappear.

Intrigued, I continued to look up, and to my surprise, more white dots started to appear in the sky. These lights weren’t flashing, nor could I find them on any flight radar. As we continued to observe, I saw a plane fly past the lights, and then one of the dots shot up toward the plane before quickly descending. At one point, three of the lights aligned vertically and then moved about a mile. Eventually, around twenty of these lights appeared, but then many of them vanished, leaving only three.

These last three formed a triangle, with one point facing upward, and began to rotate slowly. They made no noise and showed none of the flight characteristics typical of aircraft, including drones, that I’m familiar with. It was incredibly strange! My friend and I drove a couple of miles to try and get a closer look, but by then, they had disappeared.

Has anyone else witnessed anything similar?

  1. That sounds like a really fascinating experience! I’ve heard several reports of similar sightings, especially in rural areas where light pollution is low, allowing for clearer views of the sky. The way you described the lights behaving—especially forming shapes and moving in a coordinated manner—definitely has the hallmarks of unexplained aerial phenomena.

Many people have reported witnessing lights in the sky that don’t match conventional aircraft or drones, and the fact that they weren’t showing up on flight radar adds another layer of mystery to your story. It’s interesting how common these types of sightings are, and they often spark discussions about what people might be witnessing—ranging from military exercises to more mysterious possibilities.

Have you considered following up with any local UFO groups or forums? They might have more information or similar reports from others in the area. Also, it could be worth keeping an eye on the skies in case they appear again!
