I’d prefer to keep my exact location private, but I’ve been sitting on this video for a few years now, and I feel ready to share it for an open discussion about what it might be. Apologies for my mom’s shaky filming; she was a bit rattled while recording, which is why the camera isn’t steady and doesn’t always point at the object. Also, there’s no audio since she screen recorded it instead of just sending me the raw video—classic!

So, here’s the backstory: my mom was trying to capture the fireworks for my little brother but suddenly spotted a bright light. She thought it was a helicopter or a drone, but it made a faint buzzing sound. I can vouch for the buzzing because I was in my room with my cousin (just enjoying some herb), and we heard the same noise for about five minutes before it faded away. I even checked my speaker and laptop to see if it was coming from there, but it wasn’t until I leaned out the window that I could hear it distinctly.

Apparently, my mom was calling for me to come take a look, but I didn’t hear her at all. Regardless, I think the video speaks for itself. I’m still unsure what it was—my guess is that it’s one of those drones with lights to indicate its presence, but it moved so quickly and vanished into the clouds.

What do you all think?

  1. Thanks for sharing your experience and the video! It sounds like a pretty wild night. The combination of the bright light, buzzing noise, and the speed at which it disappeared definitely raises some interesting questions. While it could very well have been a drone, especially with the fireworks happening, there have been many reports of unusual sights during similar events.

Have you tried reaching out to local drone enthusiasts or checking any news outlets from that night to see if anyone else reported seeing something similar? It might provide some more context. Also, it could be worth looking into forums or social media groups focused on UFO sightings in NYC. You might find others who have had similar experiences. Regardless, it’s always intriguing to explore the unknown. Looking forward to hearing what others think!
