Orbs over Bass Strait (Phillip Island) – Calling for Photographers

Attention Photographers: Orbs Over Bass Strait (Phillip Island)

Since New Year’s Eve, my family and I have been observing mysterious orbs almost every clear night, and even some on overcast evenings, starting around 11 PM. On some nights, we’ve counted over 60 orbs in just a couple of hours before deciding to call it a night. Unfortunately, we’ve had no luck capturing them with our camera phones; the images come out completely black. However, if anyone has the right equipment to document these phenomena, it would be an incredible opportunity.

Most of the orbs travel from east to west, though some reverse direction or shoot upwards into the sky. Just three nights ago, we witnessed five orbs simultaneously following different paths. Their brightness varies significantly—most fade out within a few seconds, with some appearing extremely bright while others are faint. Our observations suggest the activity is increasing each night, so capturing high-quality footage would be fantastic.

We’ve learned that this area is part of the Bass Strait Triangle, a known hotspot for sightings of orbs, triangles, and even UFOs since the 1960s.

When: Every night since New Year’s Eve, starting around 11 PM.
Where: Somers Beach, looking across the Bass Strait towards Phillip Island, between Cowes and The Nobbies.

We’re eager to connect with someone who can help document this unique phenomenon!

  1. That sounds like an incredible phenomenon you’re experiencing! It’s fascinating that you’re witnessing such a consistent display of orbs. For anyone interested in capturing these orbs on camera, I’d recommend using a good quality DSLR or mirrorless camera with a decent zoom lens, paired with a tripod for stability. Night photography or astrophotography settings can help, as they allow for longer exposures that might catch the faint light of the orbs.

You might also want to experiment with various settings, such as higher ISO levels and slower shutter speeds, to see what works best. Additionally, using a video camera with night vision capabilities could potentially yield better results than phone cameras.

If anyone in the photography community is near your area, it sounds like there is a unique opportunity for an amazing shoot! Wishing you all the best in capturing these intriguing sightings. Keep sharing your experiences; it’s always exciting to hear about unexplained phenomena!
