Seen directly over downtown Washington DC 6:30 EST

Observation from Downtown Washington, DC – February 26th, 6:30 PM EST

While enjoying a smoke on my rooftop with a fantastic view of the city, I often keep an eye on the skies above DC. Over time, I’ve gotten pretty good at distinguishing between planes and helicopters, which typically follow specific flight paths around here. However, I recently spotted something that truly captured my attention.

At around 6:30 PM EST, I noticed an unusual object high in the sky. It wasn’t stationary, and after reviewing my video footage, I was surprised to see it accelerate sharply on two separate occasions, followed by significant deceleration. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what I witnessed.

Location: Looking slightly east over Washington, DC as the object traveled north/northeast.

  1. That sounds like an intriguing sighting! It’s always fascinating when we notice something unusual in the sky, especially in an area like Washington DC where air traffic is quite regulated. The fact that you observed the object accelerating and decelerating multiple times is definitely noteworthy.

Have you considered any explanations for what it might have been? It could potentially be a military aircraft, given the location and its maneuvers, or even a drone, given the higher altitude. The video you recorded could provide valuable clues—sometimes details in the footage can help identify the object or any unusual features it may have had.

Looking forward to hearing what others think! Thanks for sharing your experience.
