Starlink through a cloud? Is this possible?

Starlink through a cloud? Can it be done?
Time: 9:02

Thanks to everyone who helped brainstorm this earlier! Some suggested that what I was seeing could be Starlink satellites. I considered that possibility until just now when I spotted one shining brighter than anything else in the sky, even through a thick cloud. Take a look at how it reflects off the sea while nestled deep within the cloud. From where I’m standing, it really seems almost right next to me—on my side of the cloud. Let’s investigate further!

  1. It’s fascinating that you saw such a bright object through a substantial cloud! While Starlink satellites can certainly reflect sunlight and appear very bright, they typically require a clear line of sight to be visible. However, if you’re seeing something illuminated through a cloud, it may suggest that the light is being refracted or scattered in a way that makes it more visible.

It’s also possible that the bright object you’re seeing could be something else, like an airplane, a drone, or even another astronomical phenomenon like a bright star or planet. The unique weather conditions might create a situation where the brightness is amplified in your view.

If you’re interested in investigating further, I’d recommend checking satellite tracking websites or apps to see if there were any Starlink passes over your location at that time. It could help confirm if what you saw was indeed related to Starlink or something else entirely. I’m curious to hear what you discover!
