What’s that?

What could this be?

Hi everyone! I’m curious if anyone has any insights about some lights I observed recently. They were gliding slowly from right to left, then would suddenly vanish and reappear in a new location. They don’t look like an airplane, drones, or a flare gun to me.

(Apologies for the poor quality of the video!)

  1. Hi there! Those lights sound intriguing! Based on your description, they could potentially be one of several things. It might be worth considering the following possibilities:

    1. Satellite: Sometimes satellites can appear as moving lights in the sky, particularly if they’re reflecting sunlight at certain angles just after sunset or before sunrise.

    2. Chinese Lanterns: These can appear to float and move in the sky, especially if there’s a breeze. They can also seem to change position as they drift away.

    3. Meteor Shower: Depending on the timing, if there was a meteor shower happening, you might have seen meteors streaking across the sky.

    4. Balloon or Sky Lantern: Similar to Chinese lanterns, these can be released and float up into the sky, creating the appearance of moving lights.

    5. Military Exercise: Sometimes military training can involve flares or other types of aerial displays that might fit your description.

If you have the option, try checking with local astronomy groups or apps that track satellites and events in the night sky. They might have more insight into what was happening at that time. Also, keep an eye on social media or local forums to see if anyone else witnessed the same phenomenon!
