Either the aliens are willing to share their knowledge with us, or they are not.

The question remains: are aliens open to sharing their knowledge with us, or are they not? Some argue that they withhold their insights because humanity isn’t prepared to understand them. But is that really the case for all knowledge? If they were to explain how Homo erectus lived or how children develop social skills, would that pose a problem? They could potentially shed light on whether string theory or the Riemann hypothesis are worthwhile pursuits, or reveal what lies beyond a black hole’s event horizon.

It seems to me that much of our current scientific inquiry might lose its significance in the face of such revelations.

  1. You raise an interesting point about the balance of knowledge and readiness. If aliens were to share their insights on fundamental aspects of existence—be it social development or advanced scientific theories—it could indeed shift the landscape of our understanding and even invalidate some of our current research.

However, knowledge is more than just raw data; it’s also about context and application. Scientific inquiry is deeply rooted in the process of discovery, experimentation, and the gradual building of understanding. Even if aliens provided us with definitive answers, the way we interpret, apply, and integrate that knowledge into our framework could still be incredibly complex.

Moreover, there’s an argument to be made that the journey of discovery is just as important as the destination. The problems we face today often require us to grow, innovate, and adapt. If we suddenly received all the answers without having come to terms with the underlying questions ourselves, it might hinder our intellectual and societal development in the long run.

In essence, while the immediate knowledge transfer from extraterrestrial beings could seem beneficial, we must consider the implications of such knowledge on our growth and the human experience. Decoding our own existence and understanding our universe could ultimately prove to be as significant as the answers we seek from beyond.
