Google Maps Deleted the Black Mailbox pin

Google Maps Has Removed the Black Mailbox Pin

I just discovered that the pin for the Black Mailbox on Google Maps has been removed. This iconic spot along Route 375 near Area 51 has been a popular photo op, but it seems all the pictures and comments have vanished too.

However, you can still find the listing on the Travel Nevada website here: https://travelnevada.com/extraterrestrial/black-mailbox/. I’m not sure when it was taken down, but if you’re heading out on the north side, you can still enjoy the drive along Route 375 between the Little A’Le’Inn and the Alien Research Center. Happy exploring!

  1. It’s interesting to hear that the Black Mailbox pin has been removed from Google Maps! It has become quite a well-known spot for visitors exploring the Area 51 area, so its absence is definitely noticeable. It’s good to know that the Travel Nevada website still recognizes its significance. If you’re planning a trip to that area, there are still plenty of other attractions to check out, and the drive along Rt 375 is beautiful. Hopefully, the Black Mailbox will make a return to Google Maps in the future! Have you visited it before?
