I’ve Spent Too Much Time in UFO Communities…

I’ve been so absorbed in UFO communities that I’ve lost sight of the fact that many “normies” out there still view us as a joke.

Recently, I made a post on a mainstream subreddit—now deleted—where I shared clips from the David Grusch testimony and insights from other whistleblowers. I believed that the audience there was generally intelligent and open-minded, and I genuinely sought their thoughts on the “UFO question.”

To my dismay, I was met with immediate mockery and scorn, particularly from individuals I once respected. I’d estimate that about 99.9% of the respondents didn’t even take the time to watch the clips I shared; instead, they went straight to insults.

No one offered a coherent explanation for why numerous former and current government officials have come forward to assert that non-human intelligences (NHI) exist and that there’s a cover-up involved. I was simply dismissed, called out for being just like a conspiracy theorist in a tinfoil hat, or someone who believes in QAnon or flat Earth theories.

In contrast, it seems that within the UFO/UAP communities, there’s at least a consensus that something unusual is happening. We may argue over specifics—nuts-and-bolts versus the woo, the credibility of certain whistleblowers versus the notion of them being frauds—but we agree on the presence of something.

It’s striking to realize that even though we might be in the midst of a slow but steady disclosure process, many people remain unaware and treat discussions about UFOs with the same hostility as they would a controversial political or religious topic.

I’ve come to understand that humanity still has a long journey ahead before we’re truly ready for disclosure.

  1. I totally relate to your experience. It can be really disheartening to reach out to a broader audience, hoping for a thoughtful discussion, only to be met with mockery and dismissal. It’s frustrating how quickly people jump to conclusions without giving the topics serious thought, especially when considering the numerous credible testimonies and evidence that exist.

It sounds like a classic case of the “ingroup” versus “outgroup” phenomenon. Many people aren’t prepared to entertain ideas that challenge their worldview, and that defensiveness can lead to hostility. The fact that you sought to engage in a rational conversation is commendable, even if the reaction was disappointing.

You’re right—there’s a long road ahead in terms of public perception regarding UFOs and UAPs. Keep pushing for those intelligent discussions in the right spaces (like dedicated UFO subs) where people are more open-minded. It’s through persistent dialogue, education, and sharing credible information that we might eventually shift the narrative and broaden understanding. Don’t let the negativity discourage you! There are many who share your curiosity and desire for clarity on these mysteries.
