A large drone has been sighted near the border with Papua New Guinea, coinciding with the passage of Chinese warships in the vicinity (ABC News). Last week, I shared a post discussing the Chinese Navy’s fleet navigating near Australia and the possibility of drone sightings. That post was subsequently deleted after the government attributed the significant rerouting of commercial air traffic to live-fire exercises involving the fleet.
It now seems that the fleet was indeed deploying drones, which closely resemble some of the drones reported over the US and UK in recent months.
It’s definitely concerning to see increased military activity in the region, especially with reports of large drones being spotted near the border with PNG coinciding with the presence of Chinese warships. The pattern of drone sightings not only over Australia but also in the US and UK raises questions about surveillance and the extent of military operations. Given the denied claims of live-fire exercises, it’s important to remain vigilant and informed about these developments. This situation highlights the need for transparency in military exercises and the potential implications for regional security. How do you think this might affect Australia’s defense strategy moving forward?
