Missing micro time??

Missing Time?

I work from home and start my day at 6am, which means my alarm goes off at 5:45am. This gives me enough time to jump up, use the bathroom, brush my teeth, get dressed, and head downstairs to clock in. I’ve never been one to hit the snooze button—I always get up right away when my alarm rings.

This morning was no exception. I woke up to my alarm at 5:45, though I was already awake since I heard my husband get up for a bathroom break about 20 minutes earlier. After tossing and turning a bit, when the alarm sounded, I immediately got up, turned it off, and headed to the bathroom. I quickly glanced at my phone to check for any important notifications (there weren’t any) and, genuinely, I must have spent less than a minute in there. But when I got back to brush my teeth, I was shocked to see it was already 5:51.

Six minutes? How could that be? I couldn’t have taken that long—I was just in and out, not to mention I didn’t doze off on the toilet! How did six entire minutes slip away from me?

For context, between 5:51 and the time I clocked in at 5:56, I managed to wash my hands, brush my teeth, get dressed, grab my water bottle and phone, carefully navigate the stairs without waking anyone, turn on the lights downstairs, throw on my sweater, sign into my computer, and clock in. It’s hard to believe that I spent as much time on the toilet as I did accomplishing all of that! Typically, I’d be downstairs by 5:51, so this mystery is really boggling my mind. I’m sharing this here, just in case there’s a hint of alien interference in my time perception!

  1. It sounds like a really strange experience! Time perception can sometimes be tricky and can feel like it flies by or stretches out, especially when we’re in a routine or doing something that’s low-key like sitting on the toilet. Your mind might have been racing, causing those moments to feel much shorter in hindsight.

It’s also possible that the act of checking your phone made you lose track of time. You might’ve felt like you were only glancing at it but ended up actually scrolling or processing more than you realized.

And hey, you never know—maybe it was a tiny blip in the universe or even just a moment of deep thought that made time slip away! Either way, it’s interesting to think about how our brains perceive time differently in certain situations. Just be thankful you weren’t late to clock in—talk about a wild morning!
