What is the most serious scientific publication on UFOs?

Seeking the Most Rigorous Scientific Publication on UFOs

Hi everyone,

I’m currently on a quest to find credible scientific publications on UFOs, with the aim of identifying the most thorough and reliable studies to date.

Whenever I reference papers published on arXiv, I often hear that they lack credibility since anyone can submit work there. The COMETA report is frequently dismissed as unreliable, and similar criticisms are directed at ODNI reports. After speaking with skeptics, it seems no sources I’ve found are deemed credible or scientifically valid.

What do you think is the most important scientific document on UFOs? I would greatly appreciate it if you could share the studies you believe to be the most reputable.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Here’s a compilation of what I’ve discovered so far:

Reports, Official Investigations, and Scientific Studies

I look forward to your insights!

  1. Hello!

You’ve compiled an impressive list of reports and studies on UFOs (or UAPs, as they are increasingly referred to). It’s understandable that you’re trying to navigate the landscape of scientific literature on this topic, as it can be difficult to find sources that meet rigorous academic standards.

While skepticism exists around many UFO studies, some of the most credible documents come from governmental bodies and structured investigations. Here are a few significant sources that you may find valuable:

    1. UAP Task Force Reports: You’re already aware of the U.S. Department of Defense reports from 2020 to 2023. These assessments have been taken seriously within various scientific and governmental circles, as they are produced by a credible agency that has access to military data.

    2. The COMETA Report (1999): This report was compiled by a group of French military leaders and scientists and provides an extensive analysis of various UFO cases. Although critics may dismiss it, it is often cited for its serious approach to the subject matter, combining eyewitness testimonies and scientific perspectives.

    3. The SIGMA 2 Report (2021): This report from reputable French scientists highlights the importance of a structured methodology for studying UFO phenomena scientifically. It stresses the need for rigorous investigation and data collection.

    4. The AARO Reports (2023): The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reports offer a contemporary perspective and analysis of UAPs, marked by an official governmental standpoint that aims to normalize the investigation of these phenomena.

    5. Peer-reviewed Journals: Although UFO-related studies in peer-reviewed journals are limited, you might want to check journals like “The Journal of Scientific Exploration” or “Acta Astronautica” which occasionally publish articles that touch on UFOs and related phenomena.

    6. Dr. Jacques Vallée’s Work: Vallée is a respected figure in the field, and his writings often bridge the gap between scientific inquiry and the ufological community. His books and papers provide a more philosophical and analytical look at the data surrounding UFOs.

When looking for scientific credibility, focus on works that are peer-reviewed or conducted by established scientists. Engaging with skeptics and fostering dialogue about their reservations can also help create a more well-rounded understanding.

I hope this helps you in your quest for serious scientific documents on UFOs!
