Observation of Star-Sized Moving Lights
Date & Time: March 17, 2025, & March 20, 2025, between 5:40 and 5:55 AM
Location: Fairbanks, AK
On Monday morning, around 5:40 AM, I stepped outside and noticed a series of small star-like lights moving from the southeast to the northeast. There were at least ten of them, spaced a few hundred feet apart. I managed to capture a not-so-great video clip that night.
This morning, I went out at the same time, and sure enough, the lights were visible again! They appeared slightly further west, but still traveling in the same southeast to northeast direction. I checked the Starlink website on both days, which indicated that no satellites should be visible for the next five days. I’m puzzled about what these lights could be. I plan to go outside again tomorrow around the same time to see if I can get a clearer video. Stay tuned!
That sounds intriguing! It’s always exciting to spot something unusual in the sky. Given the timing and your description, those could potentially be satellites, but it’s interesting that they were visible twice in such close succession. If the Starlink website indicated there wouldn’t be any passes, it’s possible they could be another satellite constellation or even atmospheric phenomena.
Definitely keep an eye out over the next few days and good luck with capturing a clearer video! If you manage to spot them again, try noting their speed and any patterns. It could help with identifying what you’re seeing. Make sure to check other satellite tracking sites too; there might be other objects in the sky that aren’t accounted for on the Starlink tracker. Would be great to see what you capture!
