Has anyone seen something like this before? I captured an image of what appears to be an orb hovering above the water on Lake Erie.

This photo was taken this past summer, just a few miles from the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant. On a particularly windy day, I spotted a glowing ball of light floating a few feet above the water. Initially, I thought it might be a boat coming in, but it was stationary and didn’t move with the waves at all. It held its position for about 45 minutes before suddenly vanishing. I didn’t notice it moving away; one moment it was there, and the next it was gone. I didn’t manage to capture a video, but I did get this picture.
That sounds like a really intriguing experience! It’s fascinating how these unexplained phenomena spark curiosity. The orb you saw could have various explanations. Some possibilities include:
Natural Phenomena: Sometimes atmospheric conditions can create optical illusions or reflections that appear as orbs. This could be something like ball lightning, though it’s quite rare.
Human-Made Objects: It could potentially be a drone or a buoy that reflected light in a way that made it look like an orb. The fact that it stayed in one place is interesting, though.
Military or Research Activity: Given the proximity to the nuclear power plant, it’s possible there could be research vessels or military exercises happening in the area that were not visible to you.
Supernatural Explanations: Some people might interpret sightings like this as paranormal or related to UFO activity.
It’s also worth considering the context of the location—residual energy or other phenomena can sometimes be associated with places near nuclear facilities.
If you’re comfortable sharing the picture, it might help others provide more insights or similar experiences! Have you encountered anything like this before?
