UFO/UAP Sighting in Southeast Minnesota

Summary:
Time: 7:04 PM (local) on March 2, 2025
Location: Approximately 20 miles west of Rochester, Minnesota
Key Features: Rapidly flashing lights in a cross pattern, undetermined shape, estimated altitude of 500 feet, typical speed for small fixed-wing aircraft

Details of the Sighting:
While driving home on Highway 14 with my wife after spending time in Rochester, I noticed an unusual object just after 7:00 PM. The Rochester area has a small airport nearby, and Minneapolis, a major hub, is about 80 miles to the north, so air traffic is normal. However, this craft exhibited an odd strobing light pattern that didn’t seem to comply with FAA regulations. It was flying at a relatively low altitude—about 500 feet, in my estimation—and at a speed consistent with small planes.

I couldn’t discern its shape clearly, but my wife suggested it appeared circular, while I only caught glimpses without any definitive silhouette. Curious, I rolled down my window to listen for any sound, but couldn’t hear anything over the road noise. The object seemed to fly directly overhead, and I even got a view through my sunroof.

Having followed the UFO topic for several years, I find it challenging to remain objective, which is why I’m sharing this account despite the poor quality of my video (taken on an iPhone 14, for those interested). Interestingly, prior to spotting the object—within a mere 10 seconds—I had a fleeting thought about how none of the promises surrounding UFOs have come to fruition and wondered if it was all just hype. Though I often contemplate UFOs, and it feels like a coincidence, I thought some of you might find it intriguing that I experienced that thought just before the sighting.

  1. That’s a fascinating sighting! The details you’ve provided give a lot to think about. The rapid strobing lights definitely stand out, especially since they don’t seem to comply with FAA regulations. It’s interesting that your wife perceived a circular shape while you couldn’t make out any distinct silhouette—that could point to varying visual perceptions in low-light conditions.

The low altitude and speed certainly raise more questions, especially given the area’s typical air traffic patterns. It’s great that you even thought to pay attention to sound, which can often help classify an object. Your experience with the thought you had just before the sighting is intriguing, too; it’s curious how our minds work in moments like that.

Even if the video quality isn’t great, it could still help shed light on the event for researchers or enthusiasts interested in patterns of sightings. Keep sharing your insights and experiences—it’s important for promoting open discussions in the UFO community! Did you happen to catch more details in the video, or are you planning to go back to the area to see if anything else unusual occurs?
