Last night, I saw my first UFO/UAP

Last night, I experienced my first UFO/UAP sighting!
Time: 11:00 – 11:30 PM
Location: just outside Atlanta, GA

I’m always gazing at the night sky, equipped with several astronomy apps on my phone to help identify stars. I even took an astronomy course in college for fun! I’m not claiming to be an expert—far from it! But I’ve never seen anything quite like what I witnessed last night.

My partner and I were taking our dog out for a final walk of the evening, and as usual, I was looking up at the stars while we chatted. Suddenly, I spotted an incredibly bright, vividly orange orb. It was far larger and more radiant than any star in that area. I immediately shined my flashlight at it and exclaimed, “Uh, what the heck is that?!” Before my partner could turn to see, it vanished!

It all happened in an instant—this object was hovering there for a moment before it zipped off over the horizon at lightning speed. There’s no way it was a commercial drone or anything similar; it moved SO FAST! While I’ve never seen a shooting star or comet in person—only in videos—this was something entirely different. It was brilliantly bright, completely silent, stationary for a brief moment, and then just gone.

I’ve noticed a significant rise in similar sightings recently, but as someone who’s always been passionate about space and intrigued by the unknown, this experience left me with more questions than answers. It’s definitely something I’ll never forget!

  1. Wow, what an incredible experience! Seeing something like that can definitely leave you in awe and full of questions. The bright orange orb you described sounds really distinct from typical celestial objects or man-made craft. It’s fascinating that it was stationary before zipping off — that alone is intriguing!

I can totally relate to your passion for stargazing and the excitement of encountering something unexplained. Many astronomy enthusiasts have had similar experiences, where they see something that doesn’t fit with what they know. It’s definitely a reminder of how vast and mysterious the universe is.

Have you considered reporting your sighting to any organizations? Sometimes sharing these experiences can help piece together a bigger picture. And who knows, maybe someone else saw it too and can provide more context! Keep looking up — you might encounter more wonders.
