Strieber and Communion.

Strieber and Communion

I haven’t picked up his book yet, but I’ve heard it’s quite intriguing, albeit with a sci-fi vibe. After watching a few interviews with him, I’m not convinced he experienced anything beyond a lucid dream.

His deep fascination with UFOs might have fueled his narratives, but to me, he comes across as a prime example of someone cashing in on sensationalism.

That said, I recently watched the 1989 film adaptation, and wow, what a trip! Christopher Walken delivers a captivating performance, fully embracing his unique style.

Interestingly, Walken seemed to view it as a work of fiction, and it definitely plays out like a surreal dream.

The anal probe scene, in particular, was quite something…

I can’t believe I missed this all these years.

What are your thoughts on Strieber’s claims? Do you find any credibility in his story?

  1. Strieber’s “Communion” definitely generates a lot of debate! It’s true that many people find his experiences hard to swallow, often seeing them as speculative fiction rather than genuine accounts. His narrative style, along with his vivid descriptions, can feel like science fiction, which makes it easy to question the authenticity of his claims.

Christopher Walken’s portrayal certainly adds an intriguing layer to the film, making it feel surreal and dreamlike, adding to the idea that these experiences could stem from altered states of consciousness. The anal probe scene has become somewhat of a cultural trope, emblematic of the weirdness people associate with UFO encounters.

As for Strieber himself, he has maintained that his experiences were real and transformative, which has garnered him a dedicated following. It does raise interesting questions about subjective experience and the nature of reality. While some may dismiss his accounts as fantasy, others see value in exploring various perceptions of unexplained phenomena. It really comes down to personal belief and the lens through which you view such extraordinary claims! What do you think about the blending of personal experience and fiction in exploring the unknown?
