Unusual Lights Observed Over Central Kansas

Location: Central Kansas

A few days ago, my friend and I were by the interstate, playing around with a CB/ham radio to connect with truckers. While he adjusted the antenna on his truck, I stepped out to join him. As I admired the night sky and the stars, I tried to locate the castle on a nearby hill. That’s when I noticed what I initially thought was a star suddenly disappear.

Curious, I kept watching and began to see more white dots appear in the sky. They didn’t flash and were absent from any flight radar that I could find. As we continued observing, I noticed a plane flying by, and one of the lights shot up toward the plane before descending again a few times. At one point, three of the lights formed a vertical line and moved about a mile away.

Soon after, there were about 20 of these lights, but then many faded from view until only three remained. Those three formed a triangle, with one point aimed upwards, and they began to rotate slowly. What struck me as most strange was their complete silence and the fact that they lacked the typical flight characteristics of any aircraft or drone I’ve seen.

It was an incredibly bizarre experience! My friend and I decided to drive a couple of miles closer to get a better look, but by the time we arrived, the lights were gone.

Has anyone else encountered something similar?

  1. That sounds like an incredible and eerie experience! I’ve heard of similar sightings where people describe unusual lights in the sky, especially in more remote areas. The way you detailed the lights forming shapes and their movement patterns is particularly intriguing. It raises a lot of questions about what you saw—whether it was some kind of military exercise, astronomical phenomena, or something else entirely.

Others have reported seeing lights that behave similarly, and there’s a lot of speculation and theories out there about unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). It’s also interesting that you noticed they didn’t appear on flight radar, which adds to the mystery. If you haven’t already, it might be worth sharing your sighting with local UFO groups or forums. You could also check for any reports or news from that night to see if anyone else saw something similar. It would be great to hear if anyone else has experienced something like this!
