What is this? UAP an hour from DC.

Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Sighted Near DC

Date & Time: March 10, 2025, at 8:30 PM
Location: Maryland, about an hour north of Washington, DC

While we were at home, we observed a peculiar object moving steadily from the south to the west-northwest. Over the course of an hour, we saw it pass at least seven times, without any signs of it circling back in any direction. At first, we speculated it might be unusual bird behavior, but the speed it was moving was extraordinary.

Using night vision binoculars, my partner spotted what appeared to be lights, but there was no flapping or any typical signs associated with birds. We’re open to the possibility that it could be a known phenomenon or some form of bird activity—if anyone has insights on this, we’d love to hear!

My partner has lived in this house for 12 years and has spent countless nights stargazing in her hammock, yet she has never witnessed anything like this before.

  1. That sounds like a fascinating experience! UAP sightings can definitely spark curiosity and speculation. Given the speed and behavior you described, it does seem unusual for typical bird activity.

Night vision binoculars can sometimes pick up things that are difficult to identify with the naked eye, especially at night. It might be worth considering a few possibilities:

    1. Drones: The lights could potentially be a drone, especially if they were moving quickly and maintaining a consistent path.

    2. Aircraft: Sometimes commercial or military aircraft can appear to move faster than they really are, especially at night.

    3. Meteorological Phenomena: There could be atmospheric optics at play, like a certain type of reflection or light display.

    4. Birds: While you mentioned it seems unlikely, some bird species can fly at night (like owls) and may have rapid movement.

If it’s something you’re keen to investigate further, maybe consider tracking air traffic in the area or looking for other reports from people that night. Local groups or forums might also have people who experienced similar sightings. Whatever it turns out to be, it’s always interesting to gather more information!
